Is It Ok to Repeat Your Faith to Christ Again

Groundhogs repeat their shadow findingHere information technology is again. Groundhog Twenty-four hours. And as many of you lot tin can call up, this is the day that dear old groundhog, the cracking meteorologist that he is, Punxsutawney Phil, tells united states of america if we're going to have six weeks more than of wintertime or non. The "holiday" tin can also conjure up reminders of an old Bill Murray film where the main grapheme keeps repeating his days.

Some may telephone call the repetition déjà vu, others may say that's simply how history goes. Somehow or another we tend to echo ourselves. Whether information technology'south practiced or bad, we are creatures of habit. At that place'southward comfort in sameness and routine, and nosotros all like it. But is that what God wants for usa?

Consider the Israelites of the Old Attestation. They had pulled away from God and thought that post-obit His laws was meaningless, so they built for themselves wooden idols to worship, amongst other things. They engaged in sexual sin, defiled the holy temple, and disregarded obvious corruption from each other. Nonetheless God withheld His anger and showed amazing love (and patience!). He protected them from their enemies whenever they attacked, after which the Israelites would return to Him. Just then they would eventually fall away again and the whole cycle would echo.

This happened over many years and many generations. Yet God was patient with His children until He just couldn't take it anymore. And that's when He allowed the Babylonians to accept over Israel and nearly everyone was sent into exile. A sort of "time out."

Why did the Israelites go along repeating their old, sinful means? Why do we exercise that today? Repeating habits don't always lead to our destruction, merely they can lead to becoming a lukewarm Christian.

Repeats Create Lukewarm Christians

God doesn't want united states to get into any comfort zones. Sameness and routines pb to stagnation. In the globe of exercise, information technology's called plateauing. In the Bible it's called being lukewarm. Y'all start past working hard, staying focused, doing all yous take to do. Simply then after a while you get tired, and instead of resting for a short time you push on half-heartedly until yous find yourself in a comfort zone where everything is easier and routine and you don't work so hard any more. This is what existence a lukewarm Christian is most. And God doesn't similar it.

"So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither common cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My oral fissure." -Revelation 3:16

I don't know most you, but that doesn't audio like much fun. I'd rather that not happen to me. The very thought of being vomited out of anyone's oral fissure doesn't sound like a good thing, whether it'southward God'south oral fissure or someone else's. I'g sure Jonah figured that out. But here'due south the betoken….

If we are lukewarm, not on fire for Christ nor water ice cold to Him but somewhere in the centre, we become complacent and God can't do annihilation with that. We are all called to share the Gospel in this world and to exist servants to each other. We are to be obedient to the Lord and to rejoice in His celebrity. How can we share the Word if we're as well busy catching up on our favorite TV shows or commiserating with the other PTA moms? How can we practice that if we decide that skipping church building is okay because football's on Boob tube (or a televangelist) or your boy has still another baseball game game? How can nosotros do that if the newspaper or your newest ebook accept priority over the Bible? How about if the kids have over your morn prayer time?

Anything that pulls the states abroad from God and allows united states of america to but focus on ourselves always leads to sin and defiance. We are to go on our focus on God and to continually reach out and serve others, and learn all we can about what God says nearly Himself in His word. If we don't baby-sit our faith and our devotion to the Lord we could become lukewarm and discover ourselves repeating things we used to exercise before Christ came into our hearts.

God Tin can Stop the Repetition

The good news is that, like with the Israelites, God volition continue to call to you. He always wants you to come back home to Him. However, He may permit an enemy to attack you to become your attention first. So be gear up! Simply I think the better manner to go is to just stay on track on God. Make one decision to follow Him and don't become back on your promise. Either yous're all in or you're non. At that place is no heart.

So why not stay close to the Lord, continue in perfecting your faith. Because He is the one who can interruption your cycle of repeating those things you tried (or maybe all the same are trying) so difficult to finish doing. Information technology is only with His strength and grace that you will rise above the lukewarm waters that try to overtake us. And it is with His great love that you lot won't be vomited out.Let the Son keep you from repeating your habits

I don't know if skilful old Phil is going to see his shadow or non. Merely I exercise know that nosotros can run into the Son all we want if we stay close to Him and be diligent in our faith.

"Withal from the days of your fathers yous have gone away from My ordinances and have non kept them. Return to me, and I will render to y'all." -Malachi 3:7

"Non lagging backside in diligence, but fervent in spirit, serving the Lord." -Romans 12:eleven
